Owned and managed by two professional chefs, Catering Edge was established in 1999 by Heili and Grant and has grown into a company associated with high-quality food, superior service and attention to detail.
We offer the ultimate in customised and personalised service! We believe that catered food should be fabulous and use only the freshest and finest quality ingredients with stunning presentations. We deliver a huge range of delicious, freshly prepared meals from breakfasts to light boardroom lunches, including gourmet platters, Canapés menus, fully plated meals and excellent buffets for both our Corporate and Private clients.
"My love and relationship with food started in my teen years when I started catering for functions while at school, I remember baking chocolate cakes at age 14 for pocket money with my mom!
I studied at Wits Hotel School received my Certificate and Diploma in Catering Management. During this time I gained experience while working with various JHB based caterers and chefs.
As part of my practical studies, I was placed at Shangri-La Country Lodge and ended up staying there for almost four years as a Kitchen Manager. There I could create, experiment and learn and believed that is where I “received” my wings and my creativity truly took off. I then spent Another four years running a lodge in Sandton, it was during this time that I decided to start my own business and I launch Catering Edge. Years later, I am still passionate about what I do and believe foods creative possibilities are endless!"
"After completing my internship with Sun International as a Chef de Partie, I took up a position with then Aventura Resorts in Warmbaths as a Chef.
Later I joined the team at Shangri-La Kitchens, a South African Restaurant in the heart of the Bushveld and this is where I met and worked with Heili - not knowing then that we would one day be husband and wife as well as the accomplished professional chef team that we are today!
I relocated back to JHB where I was involved in running the canteen at Alexander Forbes in Sandton. I received a phone call from Heili asking to assist with functions, my career took a turn and Heili, and I became business partners, and as they say, the rest is history!"
